WOODVILLE

Woodville Police are investigating a serious vehicle crash overnight which has left one person critically injured and another in a serious condition.

The crash occurred at approximately 1.30am on Condoit Road, just north of Woodville, near the intersection of Valley Road, when a Subary Legacy station wagon heading East on Condoit Road lost control, hit a bank a rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its side against a shed. There were two occupants in the vehicle. Both are local residents. They were taken by Ambulance to Palmerston North hospital after being cut free by Woodville Volunteer Fire brigade.

The driver, 18 year old Brendon Matthews, is in a stable condition. The 18 year old male front seat passenger, Anthony Howse, has been transferred to Wellington Hospital due to head injuries and is in a critical condition.

It is very early on in the investigation but speed appears an obvious factor at this stage, and police will also be conducting alcohol and vehicle tests.
