Emergency services are currently attending an incident at Cashin Quay Lyttleton

At about 2.30pm this afternoon crew members from the cruise ship MS Volendam where carrying out lifeboat drills when a cable snapped and two crew members fell in the water.

One of the crew members has been recovered and taken to Christchurch Hospital for treatment. The second crew member has not yet been found.

No further details are available at this time. Media are asked to refrain from calling Police about this incident, we will update the media release as and when information becomes available.
