Car and train have collided

At approximately 09:15am this morning a car and train have collided.

At this time emergency services are at the scene.

The incident has occured at the intersection of Flint Rd East and Broadway (Statehighway 3).

A utility car and a goods train which was travelling north from Stratford were involved.

The details of what has occured are unknown at this stage.

There were  three occupants of the vehicle. An adult female has died at the scene, the adult male is in critical condition and been air lifted to Taranaki Hospital and a young female child has also been taken to hospital via ambulance.

Specialist crash investigators are on their way to the scene.

Any other details relating to the occupants of the vehicle are unknow
