Further information released on Colin Smithies

Wellington Police are able to release some further information into the case of missing diver 49 year old Colin Smithies, who was found alive and well last night.

Mr Smithies walked into the Clive Police Station shortly after 5pm last night.

The priority for Police was to ensure Mr Smithies' wellbeing. He was taken to Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital where he received medical treatment, before being transferred back to Wellington overnight.

Mr Smithies has spent the night with family.

He will be spoken to by Wellington Police later this morning, with a view to ascertaining what has occurred. Further details will then be released by Police this afternoon.

Mr Smithies was reported missing by his partner around 11pm on Monday night, after failing to return home from a paua dive at Titahi Bay beach earlier that evening.
