Boat submerged - Taupotoputo Bay Cape Reinga

At 8.00pm on Wednesday the 12th January 2011 a boat was reported as submerged off the rocks south of Tauputoputo Bay, Cape Reinga. The boat was located in an isolated area of rugged coast.

Police are currently working to ascertain whether any persons were with the boat when it sank and the movements of the boat prior to it sinking.

Local support has been obtained from Ahipara, Houhora and Waitiki Landing to assist Police.

The name of the boat will not be released until further inquiries have been made.
