DHL today announced applications for the inaugural DHL Summer Grant campaign are open allowing Surf Life Saving Clubs in New Zealand to apply for four grants of up to $3000.

The DHL Summer Grant campaign builds on the relationship DHL has held with Surf Life Saving New Zealand since 2003, offering Clubs the opportunity to apply for a total grant pool of $12,000.

“DHL is proud of its association with Surf Life Saving New Zealand and proud to extend our support in 2011 by helping Clubs around the country purchase equipment they need to ensure their beach is the safest it can be throughout the patrol season,” said Gary Edstein, senior vice president, DHL Express Oceania.

Every club in New Zealand will be eligible to apply for a DHL Summer Grant. As part of the application process Surf Life Saving Clubs will be asked to detail equipment (to the value of $3,000NZD) they would like to purchase and explain how the equipment will help make the beach safer throughout the patrol season.

“Our valuable relationship with DHL is essential to Surf Life Saving’s ongoing commitment to prevent drowning and injury in New Zealand. Every Club has individual equipment requirements for the various environments they patrol and the DHL Summer Grants programme will allow recipients the opportunity to purchase valuable equipment and help make our favourite playground safer this summer.” said Grant Florence, Chief Executive, Surf Life Saving New Zealand.

Applications for the DHL Summer Grant will close on Friday 11 February 2011 with the successful Surf Life Saving Clubs being announced on Wednesday 23 February 2011.
