A 21 year unemployed male has been arrested for Breach of Bail
after he was taken in custody yesterday by Police investigating
an alleged abduction on Great Barrier Island in the Hauraki Gulf.

The male was the subject of a widespread search on the Island.

Police have not ruled out more serious charges being laid.

The man will appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile a 19 year old female who was in the company of the
man sought by police was airlifted to Auckland Hospital where
she remained overnight for medical observation.

A male who was earlier seriously assaulted at a residential address
on Great Barrier was discharged from hospital yesterday. He is to
continue receiving specialist medical treatment.

The Police forensic team has completed its scene examination in Claris.

A small team of investigators remain on the island to complete the task of
interviewing local residents and other tasks linked to the investigation.

Weather conditions on the island are atrocious and the police personnel
will not return to Auckland until the weather improves.
