Wellington Police investigating Kilbirnie stabbing incident

WELLINGTON CITY

Wellington Police are investigating a stabbing yesterday afternoon, which has left a 46 year old victim in hospital.

Police were called to Bay Road, Kilbirnie, shortly after 2:30pm, after a man had stabbed another man outside the shops.

Detective Sergeant Mike Priston of Wellington CIB says a 64 year old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Wellington District Court tomorrow.

“A number of people intervened during the incident this afternoon and we’d like to hear from those people who have witnessed the attack.”

The 46 year old victim from Miramar is in Wellington Hospital in a stable condition, after receiving stab wounds to the chest and back areas.
