Shooting - Okaihau, Northland

Kaikohe Police are investigating a shooting at a rural property near Okaihau which has left a 20 year old female dead.

The incident happened shortly after 8 o'clock yesterday evening.

A forensic examination of the scene and a post mortem examination will be carried out today.

Police have spoken with a number of people present at the property at the time of the shooting.

A 15 year old youth has been charged with 'Careless Use of a Firearm Causing Death'. He will be appearing in the Youth Court at Kaikohe.
