HAMILTON

A week out from when a store owner narrowly missed injury when a firearm was fired during an aggravated robbery, Hamilton Police are no less determined on catching those responsible.

Detective Sergeant Dave Grace of the Hamilton CIB said despite the offenders being at large officers will hold to account those responsible for the robberies of the Bulk Food and Spice Haven last Thursday and the DK Liquor store on Saturday.

"In the second robbery a 58-year-old shop owner suffered a fractured skull from a blow from a hammer and he required surgery for a gunshot wound suffered when one of the offenders fired a shotgun at him.

"Our enquiries into both incidents are continuing and we hope by releasing stills from CCTV footage of the DK Liquor robbery someone may recognise the distinctive clothing worn by the offenders and contact us.

"The gunman's hat has a distinctive embroidered emblem on the front with a sticker or other attachment to the brim. Also of note but possibly not visible in these photos is red piping that runs from the base of the cap to its top."

Mr Grace said the offender with the hammer was wearing a distinctive white hooded sweatshirt with black and turquoise panels on the front and was also carrying a blue pillow slip.

"We believe these items are sufficiently unique that someone will have information about the clothing and the robberies.

"These people are urged to contact the Operation DK enquiry team at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 8586200. Alternatively information can be left anonymously on the Crime Stoppers crimeline, 0800 555111."
