Lower Hutt CIB seek witnesses to sexual assault at Waterloo railway station
Lower Hutt Police are looking for witnesses to a sexual assault at Waterloo railway station last week.
Constable Kirsten France of the Lower Hutt CIB says the assault took place at about 4.30pm on Wednesday 26 January 2011, in the underground walkway that leads between platforms.
"The 16 year old female victim was walking through the underground walkway to the southern platform and was approached by a man on the steps. She then turned around to walk back to the other side, but was followed by the offender."
Constable France says he then grabbed her and pushed her up against the underground wall and began forcibly kissing her on the lips.
"The victim managed to get free of the offender but was left shaken from the incident. We're urging anyone who was at the waterloo train station last Wednesday and may have seen this offender or witnessed the attack to come forward."
"It is possible that the male had caught a train to Waterloo station heading southbound, prior to the victim catching the 4.52pm train back to Masterton."
The male is described as Polynesian, approximately 30 - 40 years old, of stocky build and of average height. He was scruffy looking with stubble on his face and was wearing a white coloured hooded sweatshirt with black dots or designs on it and black jeans.
Anyone with information should contact the Lower Hutt Police on (04) 560 2600 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
