Man dead after accident involving tractor

Western Bay of Plenty Police this evening dealt with an accident involving a ride on lawn tractor / mower that has left a 59 year old Aongetete man dead.

Police, Fire and Ambulance staff were called to a lifestyle block near Katikati at around 6.30pm after a family member reported the accident. It appears that while negotiating a steep bank, the man lost control with the machine ending up in a pond with him trapped underneath. Emergency Services were unable to revive the man.

The matter has been referred to the Coroner. No further details, including the name of the deceased, will be released at this stage.
