The two New Zealand sides cruised through their opening round matches of the team championships at the Oceania Junior Badminton Championships in Suva, Fiji.

Title favourites New Zealand 1 defeated Tahiti 5-0 without dropping even a game. Every match was under half an hour and top singles player Asher Richardson from Canterbury being used for only the doubles. Auckland’s Shawn Zhang took over in the top spot with a straight game win over his opponent in 28 minutes while Lilian Shih(Auckland) won the women’s singles in just 15 minutes against Cecile Xavier.
