ROXBURGH

Police can now release the name of the woman that died at Roxburgh on Friday, 11 March 2011.

That woman was;

Lesley Ann JOHNSTON, aged 60 years, of Roxburgh.

Mrs Johnston appears to have been shot at her address.

Mrs Johnston's husband was also located at the address and was transported to Dunedin Hospital by helicopter. He has been operated on and remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

Police have specifically declined to name Mrs Johnston's husband for legal reasons.

The Officer in Charge of the investigation, Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw of the Central Otago CIB said, "The body of Mrs Johnston was removed from her Smith Street address yesterday afternoon, (Saturday, 12 march 2011) and has been taken to Dunedin for a forensic examination".

"The scene remains guarded and the examination is continuing. That examination is not expected to be completed until at least Monday (14th March 2011)".

"We are following a positive line of inquiry in the investigation which we are treating as a homicide".

"No-one has yet been charged with any offences regarding the death of Mrs Johnston although we are not seeking anyone else in the investigation at this stage".

"I can reasonably assure the general Roxburgh community of their safety".
