A man will appear in the Wellington District Court next week charged in connection with a cannabis growing operation in Broadmeadows.

Police executed a search warrant at a house last Thursday, where 16 cannabis plants were seized, ranging in height from five to six feet tall.

Constable Jana Peterson of the Wellington Police Crime Control Unit (CCU) says Police also seized two boxes of cannabis cuttings at the address.

He says a 44 year old man was arrested yesterday and faces charges including cultivation of cannabis and possession of methamphetamine utensils. He will appear in Court on Monday 28 March 2011.

Constable Peterson says, "Police are committed to reducing the harm in our community caused by cannabis and will continue to target people cultivating and supplying the drug."
