Roofing contractor killed in Christchurch
Christchurch Police have confirmed that a 55 year old roofing contractor died on a central city building site last Thursday 17 March, 2011.
He was Mathew John Down. The death has been referred to the Coroner.
Christchurch Police say the man was undertaking repair work on a "leaky building" located in Clarkson Avenue. The building is not located in the Red Zone, or in any of the other zoned areas in the CBD. He was not undertaking earthquake-related work.
A Police investigation is underway, alongside a Department of Labour investigation.
