Update on fatal house fire - Rotorua

Rotorua Police and other emergency services attended a fatal house fire in Clayton Rd, Western Heights, Rotorua, in the early hours of this morning (Monday 4 April).

One person is confirmed dead as a result of the fire, while six others are in Rotorua Hospital being treated for smoke inhalation.

The name of the deceased will be released once the process to notify next of kin has been completed.

A Police investigation is underway, but at this stage Police are not treating the fire as suspicious. The Fire Service are also investigating.
