Public appeal following thefts at Pilot Bay - Mt Maunganui

Mt Maunganui Police are appealing to the public for any information in relation to a number of thefts and boat burglaries in the Pilot Bay area over the past week 30th March-3rd April 2011.

Stolen property from two Pilot Bay boats was recovered in an aluminium dingy which sunk near Sulphur Point on Sunday morning.

It is believed that the dingy had also been stolen from the area of Salisbury Wharf over the weekend.

Members of the public are asked to report any suspicious activity in the area to Police immediately on 111.

Police are also asking boat owners to check their moorings and notify Police of any burglaries or thefts.
