Western Bay of Plenty Police have confirmed that they arrested a 34 year old musician at a Tauranga tavern in the early hours of Sunday morning (10 April).

He was charged with disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence, and will appear in the Tauranga District Court on Friday 15 April.

A second man (24 years) was charged with obstruction and resisting arrest.

The Acting Area Commander for Western Bay of Plenty, Inspector Karl Wright-St Clair says Police had visited the tavern in the Tauranga CBD earlier that night as part of their regular pub checks across the Western Bay of Plenty region.

Inspector Wright-St Clair says as a result of an incident that occurred while they were on site at the tavern, Police returned after the bar closed at 3am to speak with staff and entertainers.

The two men were arrested at that time and taken to the Tauranga Police Station, where they were released on bail pending the court appearance this Friday.

Inspector Wright-St Clair says Police are not in a position to be able to comment further because the case is now before the court and subject to sub-judice.
