Wellington Police concerned about unprovoked assault on 18 year old
Wellington Police are concerned about an unprovoked assault on a female teenager near Worser Bay last night.
Detective Sergeant Penny Gifford of the Wellington CIB says at about 5:50pm last night, the 18 year old victim was walking on the Awa Road walkway which leads down towards Worser Bay in Seatoun.
"The offender grabbed the victim from behind, causing her to fall to the ground. A struggle took place and the offender fled after the victim screamed repeatedly.
The male is described as a Pacific Islander, approximately 16 years of age of slim build and approximately five foot six inches in height. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a black top and knee length grey shorts.
Penny Gifford says, "The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault and was left shaken from the frightening experience."
She says, "We are obviously concerned about this unprovoked attack and are very keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard this assault or who may have seen someone fitting this description hanging around the area at the time of the attack last night."
