Six arrested in Wellington Drug Squad operation
Six people are facing more than 35 serious charges between them, following a series of early morning search warrants executed in Wairarapa, Upper Hutt and Wellington this morning.
Detective Inspector Darrin Thomson, officer in charge of the Wellington District Drug Squad says the six arrested face charges including participating in an organised criminal group, conspiring to supply methamphetamine and cannabis, money laundering and attempting to obstruct justice.
"These arrests follow a six month-long investigation by the Wellington Drug Squad and included an electronic phase in December 2010."
Stolen property valued at around $35,000 has also been recovered. The property was stolen in a burglary in Wellington last year.
Four men and two women from Masterton, Wellington and Manawatu, will appear in the Wellington District Court next Monday (18 April 2011). They range in ages from 19 to 41 years.
Detective Inspector Thomson says, "Methamphetamine is a destructive, horrible drug which Police will continue to focus on, to eliminate it from our communities."
