Three people have today been arrested in connection with an alleged commercial cannabis growing operation in South Wairarapa.

Officer in charge of the Wairarapa CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Hansen says two search warrants were executed this morning - one at an Otaki address, the other in Kaiwaka Road, South Wairarapa.

"We arrested a 45 year old Otaki man for cultivating cannabis and possession of cannabis for supply. A 61 year old Martinborough man also faces the same charges and a 62 year old Martinborough woman is charged with possession of cannabis."

Sean Hansen says Police have seized between 100 and 150 cannabis plants and about four pounds of dried cannabis from the South Wairarapa address. A quantity of cannabis was also located at a house in Otaki."

He says this investigation was part of Operation Linda, a nationwide cannabis and crime initiative, targeting organised crime and those involved in the cultivation, distribution and supply of cannabis.

"Police will continue to target illegal drugs and organised crime throughout the Wairarapa region."

A 45 year old Otaki man will appear in Levin District Court later this afternoon and a 61 year old man will appear in Masterton District Court shortly. A 62 year old woman will appear at a later date.
