Netball New Zealand’s Emerging Talent Selectors announced today the 12 players selected in the New Zealand Secondary Schools team to compete in the Trans-Tasman Secondary Schools Netball Challenge held in Porirua 31st May – 2ndJune . The players were selected from the 28 trialists who took part in the New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS) camp held in Auckland over the weekend.
The Trans-Tasman Secondary Schools Netball Challenge will be held at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua, 31st May – 2nd June 2011 and other competing teams include School Sport Australia, Aotearoa Maori, Indigenous School Sport Australia, Bukit Jalil Sports School (Malaysia) and the Pacific Rim Secondary School Team.
NZSS coach Helene Wilson says she was excited about the depth of talent at the Secondary School Trial.
“I love it when a trial presents a strong challenge as it shows the calibre of talent at this level of Netball in New Zealand .” Wilson said.
“A number of the 28 trialists are seen to have a long term future in Netball and I am looking forward to defending our title with the team in the Trans-Tasman Secondary Schools Netball Challenge.”
The team consists of three players from the victorious 2010 NZSS Team; Amani and Pederson took the court in the Final against Australia. These two plus Bourke are also members of the current Emerging Talent Accelerant Squad.
