Air Force flies in for Classic Fighters Air show

The Royal New Zealand Air Force will be taking part in the Omaka Air Show in Blenheim this Easter Weekend, beginning with the twilight display on 22 April and continuing with displays in the air and on the ground during 23-24 April.

Aircrew from No. 3 Squadron, RNZAF will showcase their professional flying skills and manoeuvrability with a two-ship Iroquois flying display. During their visit to Marlborough they will also perform the ball drop at Trafalgar Park, Nelson on 23 April to kick off the Crusaders vs Highlanders game.

A Seasprite helicopter from No. 6 Squadron will be performing a handling display as part of the air show, giving the public a chance to see this naval helicopter in action.

Kiwi Blue, the RNZAF parachute display team will be jumping out of a C-130 Hercules with seemingly effortless ease, while making smoke trails in the sky.
The mighty Hercules, from No. 40 Squadron will be open to the public, allowing a close-up view of New Zealand’s largest military transport aircraft.

In addition, a Harvard from the RNZAF Historic flight will bring a touch of the classic.

There will be as much to see on the ground as in the air with the Air Force’s tented display that showcases the numerous trades of the RNZAF, from Avionics to Force Protection. Air Force Recruiters will also be available to answer any questions about careers in the Air Force, and finally, the Air Force Museum at Wigram will be bringing their unique museum-in-a-box display, showcasing New Zealand’s military aviation history.
