Body of a male found at Houghton Bay, Wellington

A body of a male has been found at Houghton Bay, Wellington around 10:30am this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton, officer in charge of the Wellington City CIB says the body was found by members of the public.

"At this stage, the circumstances surrounding this death are not believed to be suspicious. The male is believed to in his 30's, and inquiries are now being made to formally identify him."

A scene examination is now underway and an investigation has begun.
