Sudden Death - Tauranga

At approximately 9.30 am on Sunday the 24th April 2011 Tauranga Police were alerted to a male lying in grass under raised seating in the Carlton Street Reserve on Ngatai Road, Tauranga.

A concerned resident contacted Police after noticing this male lying under the stands near a softball park inside the reserve. Upon arrival Police established that the male was deceased and appeared to have been in this location overnight.

An initial scene examination and investigation has been completed by members of the Tauranga Criminal Investigation Branch. There appears to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death and the matter has now been referred to the Coroner.

The deceased person has been identified as Hamish MARSDEN, a 22 year old male from Auckland.
