Wintec will help the Open University of Malaysia to provide security programmes as part of a new educational partnership.
It is the first collaboration between the two educational institutions and will see Wintec assist the University to develop a Certificate in Security Management and a Professional Diploma in Security Management.
“This partnership highlights our desire to work together with international educational providers, such as the Open University of Malaysia, to support successful training programmes,” says Stewart Brougham, Wintec’s Internationalisation Director.
Wintec will provide subject matter experts, its ‘train the trainer’ programme, and quality assurance for the competency-based security training.
“Tailored training and experiential training – where we assess people as they work or assess work experience – is an area in which Wintec excels and we look forward to introducing these concepts and our ‘train the trainer’ programme to a Malaysian market.”
As part of the agreement, staff from the Open University of Malaysia will visit Wintec’s Hamilton campus annually to gain first-hand experience in Wintec’s security management training and applied education.
Wintec’s subject matter experts will be sent to Malaysia for up to three weeks in late May to work alongside the Open University of Malaysia facilitators and support them with the new security programmes.
The Open University of Malaysia will award the certificate and diploma qualifications under their awarding authority through their Institute for Professional Development.
In the future, this on-going arrangement between Wintec and the Open University of Malaysia may expand into other programme areas and countries.
