The clock’s ticking for Nelson residents to have their say on the draft Annual Plan, which sets the city’s direction for the next 12 months.

The draft Plan closes this Friday and outlines any changes made to the Nelson Community Plan (ten year plan) adopted in 2009.

Well over 600 submissions had been received by Tuesday 26 April, with the majority containing views on the proposed development at Rutherford Park.

Acting Chief Executive, Nikki Harrison, says it’s great to see so many people taking the time to have their say.

“The Annual Plan process is a consultative process. It is a key part of Council decision making and an opportunity for those who feel inclined to do so to have their say. It’s vital that as many people as possible put forward their views, all of which will be carefully considered” she says.

The full draft Annual Plan can be viewed at Civic House, at any of the Nelson Public Libraries, or online. The full plan is also available in hard copy or on disc to take away.

Submissions can be dropped into Civic House in Trafalgar Street, any Nelson Public Library, posted to P O Box 645, Nelson 7040 or completed online. Submitters should ensure they tick the box on the submission form if they want to speak to their submission.

What happens now?

  • Submissions must be received by Council before 4pm, this Friday 29 April 2011.
  • Hearings will be held May 27-31.
  • The draft plan will be adopted by Council on 23 June.

Council would like to thank all those who have taken the time to send in their views.
