Duck shooter presents shotgun in bar

At 11 p.m. on Satuday 7th May 2011 a 24 year old male was at the Traffers bar in Gore .He had travelled to the hotel in a vehicle with some associates and they had all been duck shooting and consuming alcohol prior to their arrival.

There was a verbal altercation with one male in the bar and the offender has then presented a double barrelled shotgun at this male which caused all patrons to flee from the bar.

No shots were fired and the male has then left the hotel with his associates in their vehicle.

The Invercargill Armed Offenders Squad were deployed to Gore and a search was conducted on a Gore address where the offender was located and subsequently arrested.

A number of firearms were seized, included a double barrelled shotgun in a loaded state.

The offender will appear in the Invercargill District Court on 9th May 2011 and he is currently in Police custody
