Waiuku man killed in duck shooting incident named

Police can confirm that the man fatally shot while duck shooting on Saturday evening is Phillip Eric Bright, a 53 year-old farmer from Waiuku.

Mr Bright was shot by another hunter on the opening day of the duck shooting season.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are waiting the results of a post-mortem examination and other forensic analysis. The post-mortem will be completed this afternoon and forensic material will be reviewed later this week.

The officer in charge of the case is Detective Senior Sergeant Al Symonds of the Papakura Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
