OTAKI

At 9.00 pm yesterday [Wednesday the 11th of May 2011] Police from the Wellington Covert Operations Group arrested a 21 year old Wellington Male and a 20 year old Wellington Female as they drove through Otaki.

Police seized close to 2300 pills of Amphetamine. This Amphetamine has a street value of approximately $100000.

The Male and female were arrested and charged Possession of Amphetamine for Supply. Further charges of Supplying Amphetamine relating to more than $250000 worth of drug will be laid at the next court appearance.

Both were kept in Police custody and appeared in the Wellington District Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee from the Wellington Covert Operations Group states:

" This is a significant seizure of Amphetamine worth approximately $100000.

This seizure should reassure the Community that we are actively policing the distribution of Amphetamine and we will continue to come down hard on those criminals that distribute these drugs that cause such harm to the Community.

Amphetamine is a common drug associated to the social party scene and is a very dangerous drug. To remove such a large amount from our streets is very pleasing ".
