Fatal Gyrocopter Crash near Awanui

A gyrocopter has crashed in a paddock near Awanui in the far north district.

Police and emergency services are at the scene.

One person is confirmed dead with another being transferred by helicopter to Hospital with severe injuries.

The name of the deceased will be released when next of kin have been advised.

The cause of the crash has not been established yet.
