WELLINGTON CITY

It doesn't get any easier than this - you can now park in the city without using a pay and display machine. A paper ticket isn't required and there's no need for coins or a card - all you need is your mobile phone

We've just signed an agreement with local company Parking Solutions to provide the new service, called Phone2Park.

After registering on the Phone2Park website, you'll be sent a barcode to attach to your windscreen. Next time you want to park, simply send a short text message with the zone you're in and how long you need.

The parking fee is automatically billed to your pre-pay account - and by scanning your Phone2Park barcode, our parking officers can quickly get all the information they need.

The system is private and secure and if you get back to your car earlier than expected, you only pay for the time you've used. You can even receive a text reminder when your time is about to expire - and avoid that parking ticket.
