Cyclist dies in crash

At around 12:30 am today (Thursday 19/5/11) police were advised of a serious crash on SH1 near Spring Creek, Marlborough. Emergency services rushed to the scene where they established a car had collided with a cyclist.

The male cyclist was transported to hospital but died as a result of the injuries received. The two occupants from the car were uninjured.

SH 1 has been closed and detours put in place to enable Blenheim police investigators assisted by the Serious Crash Unit to clear the scene
