Invercargill City Council Chief Executive Officer, Richard King, has confirmed that the Council was yesterday served with High Court proceedings.

“The Southland Indoor Leisure Centre Charitable Trust is claiming $27 million or thereabouts from the engineer involved in construction of Stadium Southland.

“The Trust also claims against the Council for the same loss.

“The Council’s indemnifiers have instructed their solicitors, who have advised on a preliminary basis, that it is highly unlikely that the Council will have any liability.

“The matter will now proceed through the formal channels associated with the court proceedings but we hope it will be at an end very shortly,” Mr King said.
