SAR operation - Missing female

BALCLUTHA

At about 700 pm on Tuesday 24th May Balclutha police launched a SAR operation in relation to a missing woman named Shelley Marie CARSON aged 36 years.

Miss CARSON was last seen on the riverbank west of Balclutha bridge at about 3pm on Monday 23rd May.

Miss CARSON was described as being in a distressed state at that time and Police hold grave concerns for her safety.

A number of items of property belonging to Miss CARSON were located beside the river including medication, cell phones and clothing .

The area where the clothing was located has been cordoned by police and a scene guard was put in place overnight .

Search and rescue volunteers worked late into the night searching the riverbank west and east of the Balclutha Bridge and the search will continue today .

Miss CARSON is described a Caucasian woman aged 36 years , medium build, 169cm tall with long dark hair she was last seen wearing a black fleece top , blue jeans and blue zip up shoes.

Balclutha police are appealing for information from anyone who may know of Miss CARSON where abouts or who saw her on the riverbank on the afternoon of Monday 23rd May .
