The SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team will be providing some of the action at the Britomart Block Benefit, a giant block party being held on Sunday in the heart of Auckland aimed at raising funds for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

The Britomart Block Benefit is a fun-run relay event where teams will race around several blocks at Britomart with the emphasis on having a fun day out while raising as much money as possible.

Entertainment includes spot prizes, a charity auction and the chance to rub shoulders with some of New Zealand’s top athletes, including Ian Smallman, Matt Gorter and Nick Lovegrove from The SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team.

SUBWAY® Pro Cycling’s General Manager Hayden Godfrey said the team’s riders will be riding stationary trainers and racing each other on a stage during the event.

“The guys are looking forward to it. Many of the team are from Christchurch so it’s a good event to be involved in.”

SUBWAY® Pro Cycling’s involvement has been organised in conjunction with the team’s bike sponsor Giant.

The event starts at 9.51am and ends at 12.51pm, the time the February earthquake hit Christchurch, and is held at Britomart in the Auckland central business district.
