5.5 earthquake in Christchurch

Police report Christchurch had a 5.5 magnitude earthquake just after 1pm. The Quake was centred 10 km east of Christchurch at a depth of 11km.

Police advise initial reports of some damage in the city but no reports of injuries at this stage.

There have been reports of liquifaction and flooding in the city.
