Keeping a close eye on the E. coli outbreak in Europe
MAF has been closely monitoring the European outbreak of Escherichia coli (E. coli), where investigations by German authorities now strongly suggest that locally produced bean sprouts were the source of the deadly E. coli O104:H4 outbreak.
New Zealand does not import bean sprouts from Germany.
MAF continues to review reports from our overseas counterparts on any developments related to the European E. coli outbreak, and will take further precautions if necessary.
