Rakaia Bridge, SH1, Canterbury - 2 Car crash

8.10am - Police are currently attending a 2 car crash on the Rakaia Bridge, SH1, Canterbury.

Injuries are unknown at this stage.

The bridge is blocked and will be closed to traffic for approximately 1 hour.

Traffic wanting to travel on SH1 within that time will need to go via the Rakaia gorge bridge to cross the river.

Road reopening - Rakaia Bridge, SH1

The Rakaia Bridge that was closed due to a 2 car crash is now open.

2 persons were involved in the crash. The injuries are not yet known but are not believed to be life threatening.
