Man in critical condition in Wellington Hospital with serious head and arm injuries
A 24 year old man is in a critical but stable condition in Wellington Hospital with serious head and arm injuries, following an incident in the city early this morning.
Detective Sergeant Mark Scott of the Wellington CIB says the French national was found near the corner of Durham Street and Aro Road around 2am by occupants of a nearby house, in a semi-conscious state, bleeding heavily.
"At this stage we are unsure as to how this man has come to be injured and are urging anyone who may have witnessed any incident in this area early this morning to come forward as soon as possible."
Detective Sergeant Scott says the 24 year old was in Courtenay Place last night with friends, but became separated from them about midnight.
"We also want to hear from anyone who may have spoken to this man or seen him in Courtenay Place in the early hours of this morning. He has dark hair and was wearing dark jeans, a dark top, a brown leather jacket and glasses."
Anyone with any information should contact Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
