WELLINGTON CITY

This Sunday 26 June we're opening up some of our best attractions for you to enjoy - and it will only cost you a gold coin.

In just a few months our city will be flooded with rugby-mad visitors - and we want locals to help us make sure they get the most out of their capital city experience.

Nearly 30 of the city's visitor attractions will open their doors for a gold coin donation for Wellington Open Day this Sunday, with all money raised going to charity.

"It's all about familiarising Wellingtonians with the city's visitor attractions ahead of Rugby World Cup 2011,'' says Positively Wellington Tourism Chief Executive David Perks.

"So often visitors seek a local's perspective. This is our industry's chance both to educate locals about what's on offer and to thank them for the role they play in hosting the city's millions of visitors every year."

Attractions such as Zealandia, Carter Observatory and Wellington Zoo will all be open, with the CitySights bus and John's Hop On Hop Off City Tour also operating for a gold coin.

Wellington Open Day runs from 10.00am until 5.00pm this Sunday 26 June.
