At about 2.15pm on Wednesday 22 June the gas main running along Stoddard Road, Mount Roskill was ruptured.

The cause is unknown at this time.

Stoddard Road has been closed between Sandringham Road and May Road, diversions are in place.

There is also a chance that the end of the South Western Motorway between Sandringham Road and Dominion Road may be shut however at this stage it remains open. A press release will be made if the motorway is shut.

Fire and Police staff are at the scene and are constantly evaluating the situation.
