At about the same time Police responded to a call of a robbery at the Post Shop on the corner of Cameron Rd and 11th Ave. A knife was presented during the robbery and a small amount of cash taken.
A 30 year old unemployed local man was arrested a short time later nearby.
He will be appearing in the Tauranga District Court on Thursday the 23rd of June charged with aggravated robbery and making the bomb threat call to the Tauranga library
Senior Sergeant Owen O'Brien said he would like to thank the staff of the Tauranga City Council and Library for their prompt actions in evacuating the Library and Council buildings.
The area was cordoned off for approximately 45 minutes. A search by Police of the Library ascertained that there was no explosive device in the building.
