Steinlager is responding to the needs of both Steinlager and All Blacks fans by providing a new iPhone app to help supporters find their way around town and back home safely.

Fans who download the free iPhone app can use it to find a bar to watch the games at, using a map-based or Augmented Reality bar finder that runs off the iPhone's GPS. Directions the bars’ locations are displayed within a real-time view of the user's surroundings, using the iPhone's camera.
This is a pioneering move for Steinlager, making it the first beer brand in New Zealand to develop and use the Augmented Reality technology.
“This is very unique offering for fans of Steinlager and the All Blacks. What better way to showcase what this new, innovative technology can do. We’re thrilled to be able provide the free app to help followers show their support of the All Blacks wherever they may be,” says Todd Gordon of Steinlager.
The bar finder shows where the nearest Steinlager bars are (and there are over 300 across New Zealand), and provides an indication of how busy the bar is by looking at how many people have '”checked in” recently.
People can “check in” to a bar using a unique code listed in the app, and be in to win spot prizes drawn during All Blacks matches. There are also real-time streams of All Blacks news, and a built-in taxi finder to help make sure everybody gets home safe and sound after the game. Brilliant!
Steinlager Rugby for iPhone is available at the App Store now. iPhone users can request a link to download the app by texting the word APP to 321. Texts cost 20 cents.
