Stolen vehicle - three offenders apprehended
Shortly before 4am this morning police were told that a Skyline vehicle had been stolen from a Mt Albert address. The owner provided GPS updates which helped track the offenders.
The vehicle was located at Royal Oak but fled the scene. The pursuit was abandoned due to speed and weather conditions. The vehicle was tracked via GPS coordinates but managed to avoid road spikes in Onehunga. The vehicle was not pursued and shortly after, again with GPS coordinates was found abandoned in Mt Wellington.
A resourceful police communicator using intelligence systems assisted police field units to locate and apprehend three offenders from this vehicle.
This is a good example of technology helping to apprehend offenders whilst minimising risk to the public and police staff.
