EMA Board follows thorough process on Alasdair Thompson Confirms long standing policy on gender equality

The EMA Board met today to discuss the recent comments and conduct of its chief executive Alasdair Thompson.
EMA Board chairman Graham Mountfort said no decision on Mr Thompson’s future employment at EMA has been made, and the meeting was part of an ongoing process.
“We are following a sound and thorough process as a responsible employer must,” Mr Mountfort said.
“A further statement will be made on this issue in due course.”
Mr Mountfort said the EMA Board reconfirmed its long standing policy on gender equality.
“We totally agree with equal pay for equal work,” he said.
“The Board refutes unanimously any suggestion that gender plays any part in workplace productivity.
“The EMA Board totally supports New Zealand women achieving to the highest levels in our boardrooms, management and at all levels in our workplaces.
“EMA confirms its commitment without qualification to:
· Equal pay
· That gender plays no part in a person’s productivity
· Gender should not influence what someone is paid.
“EMA is also fully committed to men and women showing respect and courtesy to each other in the workplace.”
