Boy dies after being struck by car in Napier

Napier Police are investigating a fatal crash, in which a young boy (believed to be about 9yrs old) was hit and killed by a vehicle on the Napier/Hastings motorway at approximately 6.45pm Friday evening.

The boy is believed to have been walking in the middle of the road in his pyjamas when he was struck by a vehicle. He died at the scene a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the boy, stopped at the scene and is speaking with Police.

The road will be closed for approximately 3 hours whilst Police conduct a scene examination.
