Kapiti Police are seeking help from the public to locate heavy drilling equipment stolen from Raumati South earlier this month.

Senior Constable Sonya Sloan of Kapiti Police says Purser Contractors had been working in Raumati South in early June, where they had heavy drilling equipment and a digger near the corner of Kainui Road and The Esplanade.

"Purser Contractors removed the digger on Saturday 11 June 2011, but between midday on 11 June 2011 and early Monday 13 June, two drilling heads, one an Orgas drilling head, were stolen. These are valued at around $12,000."

Senior Constable Sloan says given the weight and size of the equipment, it is likely more than one person would have removed this equipment and would have needed a vehicle.

"We'd like to hear from anybody who may know the whereabouts of this equipment or anyone who saw anything suspicious between the 11th and 13th of June in this area."

Anyone with any information should phone Kapiti Police on (04) 296 6800

or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 .
