Parents looking for cheap, fun activities for their children in the upcoming school holidays are being urged to take advantage of a special deal offering free bus travel and entry to Whangarei’s kiwi house and museum.

Whangarei’s public bus service CityLink and kiwi house and Whangarei Museum operator KiwiNorth have joined forces to offer the special ‘3 Go Free’ deal, which will run on Thursday and Fridays during the July school holidays.

The deal gives up to three children free travel on a CityLink bus to the kiwi house and museum – and free entry to both. It offers potential savings of $7.50 per child, but does come with some strings attached.

Sharlene Selkirk, Public Passenger Transport Officer, for the Northland Regional Council says to qualify, children must be accompanied by an adult and that adult must pay for their own bus travel and kiwi house/museum entry.

She says to claim the free tickets people also need to contact her in advance on (09) 470 1217 or email her via: sharlenes@nrc.govt.nz

“This offer is not available via bus drivers, so you must contact us in advance to claim the complimentary CityLink bus tickets for your children.”

“Adults will also need to show their CityLink bus ticket receipt (or 10 trip concession ticket) at KiwiNorth to get the discounted entry to the museum and kiwi house.”

Mrs Selkirk says the Whangarei Museum and kiwi house are open from 10am to 3pm on Thursdays and Fridays and as an added bonus, every CityLink traveller will also get two rides for the price of one on the big trains at Heritage Park.

“These trains will be operating from 11am to 2pm on the days of the offers.”
